Your posters/videos are due on 12/8

Videos must be filmed and edited by then.

The poster needs to be printed out by that day, so the file needs to be sent to Peter no later than 12/6

HW for 11/17

For each group (Poster, Video Presentation, Future Vision) you need to give Peter an outline of what you will do. For the poster group, this should be a drawing of what your poster will look like - what will be on the poster, what information, etc. For the two video groups, your outline should detail what will be the content of the video - what topics you will discuss, who will discuss them, in what language, etc. 

Each group needs to give Peter an outline NEXT WEEK!!

I will also book the studio the next two weeks for those groups that want to start filming.

Closing the Gender Gap

Here's another video from the WEF about what can be done and is being done to close the worldwide gender gap. Take a look. 


Gender Gap Index

Divide up into four groups. Each group will be responsible for a different aspect of the analysis. 

  1. Economic participation and opportunity
    1. Percentage of women in the workforce
    2. Wage gap
    3. Promotions (number of women leaders/board members in business)
  2. Educational attainment
    1. Female literacy rate
    2. Ratio in primary (小學), secondary(中學), and tertiary levels(大學)
  3. Health and survival
    1. Birth ratios ("missing women")
    2. Female life expectancy
  4. Political empowerment
    1. Percentage of women in parliament (立法院)
    2. Percentage of women in cabinet positions (行政院的部長)
    3. Number of years of female executives (女總統的年數)
Find the relevant information for Taiwan (as recently as possible) and find out how the data was calculated. Then use your best information to help calculate the numbers for Taiwan. Will we be green, yellow, or red?

Homework

3) Write about it in your journal
4) Write what you think about the news

1) Ask your mother/grandmother/any older woman: "What has changed about women's rights in your lifetime? What do you think about this?"
